Equine artist, teacher and equestrian, Carol creates contemporary equine art; in sculpture and painting.
Through a lifelong history of riding, studying art and art history, owning horses and observing their anatomy and movement, Carol has developed a style unique to the equine artworld.
At times influenced by the simple exquisite beauty of the animals themselves, and at other times moved by a whimsical mood, Carol brings forth the majesty and power of these noble animals in a magical way.
I am inspired by so many things, an interesting photograph, another artists’ exploration of technique, the colors of Tuscany or my adorable horse, Hunky.
Once that inspiration is solid, I start sketching the idea on paper.
Generally the first idea for composition/ color is the right one. But I often make several sketches so I can have a choice.
From there I start to explore the actual creation and it can can shape in a few different ways.
I find it near impossible to stand still, especially when I am surrounded by so many inspiring people, opportunities and energy.
At the moment, I am exploring movement in my bronzes. His lively personality and antics keep the wheels of inspiration turning. With the help of those who work at the foundry, I am working to represent his energy.
You will have to visit me at one of my exhibitions or come back to the site often to see the final pieces.
