As an equine artist, I typically have several works in progress at any given time.
Right now, I’m working on three pieces that all revolve around the same theme—Hunky playing in the paddock. Each medium I use brings its own unique qualities and expresses ideas differently.
For instance, a bronze sculpture offers a realistic yet idealized version of my subject. On the other hand, a painting can interpret Hunky in countless ways, influenced by my emotions and the materials I choose. Ceramics, another form of sculpture, also allow for both abstract and realistic interpretations.
Using multiple mediums enhances each type of artwork.
Creating three-dimensional sculptures, for example, influences the way I approach painting, and vice versa.
